 Proposed incinerator scrapped - 1974 There were plans to erect a £1.5 million incinerator in Nene Valley near the villages of Great & Little Billing, Cogenhoe, Ecton & Earls Barton and there were many objections to this and in February 1974 the council decided not to proceed with this proposal.  New Flyover 1980 The A45 dual carriageway was being built around the south of Northampton and a new flyover was built to ensure the road between Great Billing, Billing Aquadrome and Billing Mill and beyond remained a through route. Peter O’Toole plays cricket at Billing Cricket Club Peter O’Toole loved his cricket and despite having an injured ankle, he played against Billing Cricket team and scored 26 runs.
