Billing Home Guard

The Home Guard was an unpaid group of local volunteers who supported the ‘Home Forces’ of the British Army during the Second World War. They were operational from 1940 to 1944, and a group was formed in Billing. Their primary role was to act as a secondary defence force in their home locality in case of invasion.
