St. Andrew's Church Great BillingEarly History and Construction
Foundation: St. Andrew’s Church was built in the second half of the 12th century, with its existence confirmed by a grant from William Barre to Delapre Abbey in 1165. The church has undergone various modifications and restorations over the centuries, reflecting different architectural styles and periods.

Architectural Features
Design: The church is constructed of stone and exhibits Early English and Decorated styles, with some Norman elements. It features a chancel, a clerestoried nave of four bays, aisles, a south porch, and a western tower that originally had a spire, which was destroyed by lightning in 1759.

Restorations: Significant restorations occurred in the mid-19th century, including the refenestration of the church and the restoration of the chancel and north chapel by E.F. Law around 1867. The interior was also updated, providing seating for about 200 parishioners.
